Start with your left foot on the back of second base and your right foot a little bit behind in the base. Square up your shoulders to the fielder by turning your torso. If the ball is up the middle, drop your right foot more towards right field some to give the shortstop a better target.
Step and Throw Turn
If you get a good feed between your shoulders, simply catch the ball then step and throw.
Arm Side Turn
Take your right foot to the ball then push hard off that foot to make the throw. If you have to stretch far to the right, drag your left foot underneath you after the catch for balance, then push hard off the right foot and step and throw to first.
Come Across Turn
Come across the bag to make the catch by taking your right foot to the ball. The right foot should land right at catch. Step and throw after the catch. If you prefer, you can also use this footwork when you get a good feed.
