There are four different ways to field a slow roller. The speed of the ball and the speed of the runner dictate which play you make.
Attack and Recover
Charge the ball directly. Catch the ball with one hand outside your glove side foot. After you make the exchange at center, get your body under control with a shuffle towards first and make the throw.
One-Handed Glove Side Attack
Catch the ball outside your glove side foot, transfer over by your back hip, and throw on the run off of your right foot.
Two-Handed Right, Left, Right
Charge the ball directly. Catch the ball with two hands inside of your glove foot then throw on your next step forward. For the footwork, approach with the right foot, field as the left foot comes down, then throw off the right foot.
Do or Die Barehand
Use the same footwork as the Two-Handed (Right Left Right) but the ball is fielded with the throwing hand. It should only be used when the ball is rolling slowly and as a last resort to cut down a speedy baserunner.
