Playing with Confidence
What is Confidence?
Confidence is knowing that you can successfully do something.
If you are not in control of yourself, then you are not playing with confidence.
There is no substitute for hard work because real confidence cannot be faked.
The price paid to truly be confident is consistency in work. It takes hours and hours to learn new skills. By obsessing over what goes into producing greatness, you can be scarily confident in your performance. You have done the work, you have seen that you can do it, and you know you can do it again. That is true confidence.
Compete with What You Have
No one feels 100% all the time, but you do not need to be 100% to perform well.
When you do not feel your best, focus on what is working for you instead of what is not.
Do battle with the weapons you have that day.Â
Do not give your opponent more credit than they deserve. What makes you think he has all his stuff together?
Mental toughness is doing the best you can, with what you have, wherever you are.
